Education Game

Intro.

Intro.

Our educational app strives to spread information about how diabetes works, as to dispel some of the current stigma, as well as show early symptoms to encourage people to seek diagnoses and treatment earlier. The app also contains treatment suggestions that allow the patient to be more involves and attentive in their treatment, increasing success rates. In order to ensure the app is used by the general public, it is a game format that engages the audience while displaying information, which is then enforced by short quizzes at the end of game play. Educating the general public as has the advantage of creating a more supportive environment for those with diabetes. The prevalence of electronic devices made the distribution of this app possible. This idea is based off of the success of other educational games, like Dumb Ways to Die and Re-Mission. Dumb Ways to Die made people in Australia aware of dangerous habits around trains. Millions of people playing the popular game resulted in a lower prevalence in train-related accidents due to increased awareness. Re-Mission was targeted towards bored child patients who had cancer. Game play had them shot the virtual representation of the cells that were hurting them in real life. The game itself raised spirits, while the information portrayed resulted in patients having a more active role in their treatment, which increased success rates and overall patient comfort.
